Melbourne International Film Festival at Kino Cinema
From 8-25 August, MIFF returns with a blockbuster program, bringing together eagerly anticipated hits from the worldwide festival circuit and future award contenders, many of which will be shown for the first time in Australia.
Kino Cinema at Collins Place will host this year’s unique program, which includes over 250 films from 62 countries. The bold and original slate includes acclaimed new cinema, special retrospectives, compelling documentaries and XR experiences. On top of the jam-packed program, International and Documentary Shorts at Kino, enjoy special events, international guests, Food and Film experiences, Q&As, the MIFF Festival Hub with drinks, food and film trivia, and more.
Some unmissable films screening at Kino include We Were Dangerous by Josephine Stewart-Te Whiu; executive-produced by Taika Waititi, this fiercely feminist Māori-led debut is an emotive subversion of the ‘coming-of-age delinquent’ narrative. Aquarius by Wendy Champagne; The age of Aquarius floods into Nimbin in this radical, love-fuelled documentary exploring the lasting impact of a 1970s counterculture crucible. This Is a Film About The Black Keys by Jeff Dupre; Ohio-born bluesy rockers The Black Keys get candid and introspective in this warts-and-all documentary direct from SXSW.
